If you "want in" just ask us. We'd be happy to include your web site in our categories. All we ask for is the URL (link) to your site, a country from which you do business, and some idea of what category you belong in. EMail us at Webmaster@Ihpva.org.
This server is operated by the International Human Powered Vehicle Association, a non-profit organization, and hosted on the Internet by CDS Enterprises, an Internet Service Provider located in Santa Rosa, California. Brian Wilson and a few volunteers (Mark Newell, Chris Broome to mention some names) donate hundreds of hours of our own time to run this site because we believe in the ideals represented on this site.
SO -- If you have a product or server to promote that fits in with our common vision, you can put yourself onto the World Wide Web by advertising in the Source Guide.
As long as it's available, storage space is FREE.
To use the space, you have to be able to get files put onto the server. Web servers use something called 'HTML' code; basically you take a plain text file and 'mark it up' with HTML tags to format it.
If you have direct Internet access, Brian Wilson can give you an account on www.ihpva.org, which allows you to maintain your own section of the server. If you don't have Internet access, you can mail me your HTML pages. Either on a floppy disk or by email. Contact me BEFORE you do this.
There are now about a dozen books out now on WWW publishing. The one Brian has been recommending is Teach yourself Web Publishing with HTML in a week by Laura Lemay, ISBN 0-672-30667-0. A good general Internet book is The Whole Internet by Ed Krol, ISBN 1-56592-063-5 from O'Reilly & Associates.
(this is an OLD recommendation -- brian)
Brian runs an Internet consulting business. Get in touch, and he'll help you. Storage space on the server will still be free, we only charge for set up.

As owner and webmaster of this site, we retain editorial control over what material is stored here. If we deem for any reason something needs to be edited or even deleted from the server, we will do it.
We don't anticipate doing this, but we don't want any hard feelings if circumstances dictate that we must. we can imagine either someone exhibiting very poor taste, or someone uploading unreasonable amounts of data. Normally,we would write to you and ask you to make the changes yourself.
